Carson’s last stand: Dan finishes out the week

Now that everyone’s finished contributing their music videos, the gang has left me to bat clean-up (<– sports reference!).

For the record, though, I do remember watching Total Request Live and even kinda-sorta having an investment who won. Hell, I remember Dial MTV — the no-frills precursor to TRL (which was probably followed by a nice game of Remote Control). But those were the glory days. The times before they devoted the shows to children giving testimonials to the artists and screaming over the music.

Kids today.

Meanwhile, my videos. There’s really no rhyme or reason to this — some of it is nostalgia-driven, some of it is stuff I just thought was cool.

Radiohead – Just

This video sticks with me as one of my all-time favorites. I like a good narrative in a music video. Plus, when this came out I thought the ending was really compelling. I won’t ruin it for you if you haven’t seen it, but teenage Dan was really into it.

New Showtime effort thounds thuper

Guys! Guys! There’s going to be a gay superhero show on Showtime!

This is either going to be the best thing or worst thing to ever happen to the network. Possibly both. But , based on the book Hero by Perry Moore.

Secret identities indeed!!!

By the way — Kyle comments on the edited news post:

The gay superhero show is based on the book “Hero” by Perry Moore, who directed a film I assistant edited called Lake City which is apparently being released in theaters next week.

Tilly and the Wall do Sesame Street

Not gonna lie, kids — I’ve been a bit bummed out this week due to the time change, etc. But if there’s one thing that will bring sunshine into my world it’s Tilly and the Wall and their long-awaited guest spot on Sesame Street.

Sure, it’s a little shrill. But it’s Tilly and the Wall singing and tapping to the alphabet song. For God’s sake.

And the little girl running around with the E/F shirt is real cute.

A 30 Rock Joke I Didn’t Get

Ok, I admit it. I didn’t get the joke on 30 Rock last night when Liz wrote down the “rude” nickname they used to have for Jennifer Aniston. Jack read back something like “Crazy Party” but I assume she actually wrote something else. I’m throwing myself at the mercy of our readers. Anyone understand this one?
