Kathy Griffin and the Coop to host New Year’s on CNN

I haven’t thought about Kathy Griffin in a while, but she’ll be on in full force on CNN tonight. She has great chemistry with Anderson Cooper, mostly because she busts his chops (as they say in 70s-era sitcoms) all the time and he has to maintain some degree of composure and professionalism.

I’ll probably DVR it, as I will be out on the town. Most likely passed out drunk in the corner of a dive bar by 12:05, covered with confetti and wearing a silly hat.

The City: Behind Olivia Palermo’s dead eyes

You guys! There’s this new thing I’m really going to enjoy hating!

Their hair is just so shiny.

Getting Ready to Sing “Auld Lang Syne” Out of Tune

The new year is fast approaching, so I only have a little bit of time to make TV-related resolutions for 2009. Here goes:

1. I will be more charitable about the space on the DVR, and not really care that someone in my apartment is stockpiling episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

2. I will check out at least one of those highly buzzed about cable shows that I have previously ignored entirely. In the running: Damages, Battlestar Galactica, or anything on HBO or Showtime.

2B. Sub-Resolution: I will figure out exactly where those aforementioned cable channels are in the infinite menu that pops up when I hit “guide” on my remote.

3. I will finish watching the first season of  Flight of the Concords because I liked what I saw, and everyone I talked to said I saw the worst episodes.

4. I will not spend as much of my life complaining about how rich the cast of The Hills is in real life.

5. I will not hold a grudge against whatever takes over Pushing Daisies‘ time slot.

6.  I will absolutely not watch Howie Do It.

7. I will admit to someone other than Jesse that I’ve been watching Kath & Kim and I think it’s funny. Hey, I’m ahead of schedule!

Shock the monkey

Before we bemoan the state of television — or specifically reality television — I guess we should be happy we don’t live in Japan. For instance, this clip of a monkey getting freaked the hell out by a popcorn machine.

A brilliant disaster

I just want to make sure you all know about this. That show that John linked to yesterday — the one about the four female friends who happen to be werewolves?

The working title is “Bitches.”  F’real.

I’m really excited about reviewing it when it comes out — just so that I can pan it and have the title of my post be “Bitches Ain’t Shit.”

Flight of the Concords: Season two premiere

I don’t really have much of an opinion on Flight of the Concords. But, I strongly support your right and privilege to waste time at work.

As such, here’s the season two premiere.  Have a look-see.

Promo: Season two of Damages

It’s time to get excited about television! Again, that is.

After a pretty crappy fall, maybe the spring season can make up for a lack of inspiration. We’ve got new seasons of Lost, Battlestar Galactica and Damages to look forward to.

In fact, here’s the promo for Damages’ second season, plus an excerpt from the first episode.
